Movement on a Beach
03:22
|
|
||
Cat tails are winning
Wars waged in warm breeze
The tides return recede return recede
Shifting shell and sand
Rewriting history
Wind pulls at my clothes
Like lustful monsters I refuse to know
Birds are diving down into the blue
Crafting crystal pillars
Tall and proud then fall to ruin

Under the Swell
03:45
|
|
||
Nothing's mine when I'm keeping track of time
its easier to lose yourself under the swell
than paddling the surface when it's hot as hell
sitting at the table with the wild eyes and white teeth of animals
isolation's doing crazy things to me
familiar faces speaking but I just can't seem to understand anything
watch the way the bodies move steady myself or else I'll lose my balance teeters dangerously on the gazes that i meet
is it really easier behind the glass away from strangers asking their "how do you do's" or "whats your name?" "how are you?"
its hard to see when you're fogging up the glass
its hard to breathe and the tide is rising fast
slip into the sea like a child falling asleep
study my reflection in the glass halls of the deep
even on the seabed where the only eyes are mine
the sun's still casting shadows of the surface left behind

Ship in a Bottle
03:53
|
|
||
I kept your letters for a while til my room burst into flame
I kept your coat on for a while til the summer stole it away
I've been building ships in bottles
I've been climbing towers of rubble
And I can't recall what it's like to even look you in the eye

Wax Indignant
02:59
|
|
||
bright faced and wide strides
here they come like hot sweats in the night
fortune follows those who follow through
but I'm always say and never do
I'm trying to be a bolder shape in soft shadows of softer space
I'm fine with living honestly as long as I've got time to dream
arrogant or audacious?
will I ever know the difference?
will I answer honest to their inquisitions
when honestly I trust the word of no one
and all our thoughts escaped our mouths
like fire had come to drive them out
what is life but act and scene?
what is love but two people trying?
I don't mind small talk or to simply sit in silence
if we just wax indignant does that make us better friends?
I don't mind if you take your time

The Eclipse
04:01
|
|
||
blood moon rising in the springtime
its another day, its another night
how many years does it take to purge the soil of all the weeds
its as if their hands are still around my body
I'm hesitating at the edge of the water you're waiting
and the sun's on my skin
I wish you'd just pull me in
learning to trust my fragile body knowing very well it will surely betray me
and I surely don't mean to be so sensitive
but it'd be nice if you'd remove your fingers from my neck
I am running out of breath
its such a strange thing to feel powerful
walking the streets starts to feel more like a battle
I am capable
allowing myself to
falling right into
the sea of you, and all its deepest hues
I'm losing myself in
all my perverse constructions
and the way out is skewed
voices crawl the sidewalks in the half moon
like kudzu vines they're coming to envelope you
another living statue for the forest
shadows of the creatures that destroy us

I Tried I Tired
02:41
|
|
||
I fell for it
I fell for it
fell into it
fell into it
I tried
I tried
I know it was wrong
I know I know I know I know I know
I know it was wrong
I know I don't belong to anyone
despite what I want
I tried
I tried
now whats done is done
and whats gone is gone
whats done is done

Agnieszka, Rozumiem
03:42
|
|
||
po południu
na dzień wiosny
pojdzemy do parku
uciec od jej ojciec
Agnieszka kochała mnie
ona była moja
moja w marzeniach
Jezus Chrystus był uczciwy
jego zamiary były dobre
jestem też uczciwa
walks in the evening
I think of us then
living in dreams while counting our sins
Agnieszka, I understand
cause nothing is more frightening than one's own skin

cast off your shadow
we all know where you're from
wipe your eyes of sleep
you've been gone too long
isn't it funny describing a dream that was yours alone
summer roaches crawling around the yard
you've been so careful not to misstep
but how could you forget
you were never in charge
isn't it strange when you mind is awake but you still can't move your arms or legs
I saw the marble canyon etched into a blue horizon
clouds float right above the cliffs like sailors come to dock their ships
and i could feel the scenery as if it were inside of my body
reaching deep into my vision
a timelessness that breaks divisions
between a world that we created
and the one beneath thats always existed
we live in a manufactured harmony
will we let it manufacture you and me?

I saw you there in my sleep
blood on my hands and I knew you could see
what they say about love isn't true
I sighed and I heard you sigh too
What would you die for, if anything at all?
I dream of silence
but in the morning silence never follows me home
I saw a man crouching down in the street
blood on his hands and he knew I could see
what they say about trust isn't true
I cried and I heard him cry too
what would you die for, if anything at all?
I dream of silence, but silence never follows
what would you live for, if anything at all?
I dream of violence
and violence comes whether you want it to or not
when theres nothing left
you fall into step

Oshima
02:57
|
|
||
I found you gazing into the pools of the low tide
all of the tiny worlds appear right before your eyes
I saw tracing shapes into the sand to be washed away in waves of blue
and with the water up to your waist you wondered if you'd wash away too
and in the air you hear it
the movement on the beach
the structure, the form, the orchestration of the sea
